My Journey to Haiti
I am excited to share the next step in my journey with
you! I have recently accepted a missionary position for the coming year in
Haiti, something that I have been praying about for years.
In October 2013 I went to Haiti for the first time to visit The
Bayou Church's Sister Church in Petit-Trou. It was then that I learned of Cite
Lumiere Christian School where the missionary kids attend. There are no public
schools in Haiti, therefore all children must pay to attend private school.
Cite Lumiere does not pay their teachers because the missionaries cannot afford
to do so. My heart was burdened with this information when I heard it. Being a
teacher of five years, I felt I could use my experience and serve as a teacher
in the school, however, this was not in God's plan for me at the time.
Fast forward four years to April 2017- my latest trip to Haiti.
While there I felt God tell me that the time was right and that I could now
move to Haiti and teach. I’ll be
teaching 6th and 7th grades.
This is exciting news, but it also comes with a large
responsibility- I must raise my own funds for my time in Haiti. I am writing
this letter to ask you to join me in this adventure by supporting me
financially and prayerfully. I will be in Haiti from August until May and am
responsible for raising $1500 per month. School
starts at the end of August, so I’m really on a tight time schedule. I
have to have these funds raised before I go!
Thank you for being willing to be a part of my life and
ministry.
In Christ,
Joslynn
