My Journey to Haiti
I am excited to share the next step in my journey with you! I have recently accepted a missionary position for the coming year in Haiti, something that I have been praying about for years. In October 2013 I went to Haiti for the first time to visit The Bayou Church's Sister Church in Petit-Trou. It was then that I learned of Cite Lumiere Christian School where the missionary kids attend. There are no public schools in Haiti, therefore all children must pay to attend private school. Cite Lumiere does not pay their teachers because the missionaries cannot afford to do so. My heart was burdened with this information when I heard it. Being a teacher of five years, I felt I could use my experience and serve as a teacher in the school, however, this was not in God's plan for me at the time.
